Relocating to Chesapeake, VA from the Seattle area in 1998, Cheri attained to MVP and Player Of the Year honors in her new Eastern surroundings. Seeing her games aired by a local cable network - complete with on-air commentary, accolades and interviews made for exciting new times in the Virginia Beach area. Her spirited and determined play earned invitations to supplement high school competition with select club level travel and training. Before leaving the Seattle area, University of Washington coaches were already pressing her to college level play by inviting her to various camps and try-outs. Cheri bested over 200 recruits from all over the US as the "Best Defensive" player for an elite summer camp at the U of W. Recent year 2000 national competitions with the Richmond Volleyball Club (RVC) has sparked interest from both Division 2 and Division 1 universities. Her gpa made her an easy sell to sport scholarship review committes everywhere. Perhaps it is her dynamic lateral speed or her high ratio of jumping altitude to actual height that makes it difficult for the Virginia sports media to keep a correct name properly captioned beneath her various press clippings, but ask anyone other than Brian French of the Virginia Pilot who Cheri White is, and they will probably know...
